The ESSENTIALS to Growth

Essential oils are another effective way to re-grow hair naturally. This alternative hair loss treatment is also referred to as aromatherapy. Well, the use of aromatherapy traces back to ancient times when people first tried to apply essential oils from various flowers, leaves, bark and roots of plants to achieve therapeutic effect in treating of hair problems. Some essential oils can also stimulate the hair follicles and help promote healthy hair growth. The most popular essential oils that are used as a hair loss remedy are rosemary, lavender, cedarwood, thyme, and also grapefruit, lemon, jojoba oil, chamomile and bay.

Rosemary and Clary Sage

Rosemary encourages hair growth. These two herbs when used together externally prove extremely beneficial to anyone wanting to grow his hair. For best results, take a pan of water and boil rosemary, sage, peach leaf, nettle and burdock. Strain the herbs and wash your hair with this liquid every day.

Lavender

Lavender essential oil is used to treat a variety of conditions including alopecia (hair loss). It has been shown to promote hair growth and increase the rate of wound healing.

Bay

This essential oil helps in growing your hair. If you have dull and lifeless hair, it will restore it with life and shine. Add six drops of bay and lavender essential oil to four ounces of warm carrier oil such as almond, jojoba or olive. Massage the mixture into the scalp and allow it to absorb for 20 minutes. Then wash with your regular shampoo, to which you've added three drops of bay essential oil.

Citrus

For oily hair, try regular treatments with either lemon or grapefruit essential oils. These oils condition the hair and clean the scalp. Warm or cold oil can be applied to the hair and left in for at least half an hour after which the hair can be washed with a gentle shampoo and conditioned.

Peppermint

Peppermint helps to stimulate blood flow to the root of your hair and doing so gives it good nourishment and growth. It helps in growth of dry hair. It is good for your hair if it grows slowly or if it is thinning.

Jojoba

Jojoba essential oil can be used with any hair type. The healing qualities of jojoba oil are beneficial for extremely damaged or breaking hair. This truly is one of the best essential oils for hair loss due to breakage. Apply the oil to towel dry hair and leave on for at least half an hour.

Essential oils have a very low risk of side effects and are quite inexpensive. There is an essential oil available for nearly every hair or scalp problem. But remember that the essential oils are far too concentrated and shouldn't be used directly on the skin or hair. So it's best to use them in combination with carrier oils like almond, soybean and sesame, coconut, avocado, or olive. But as with all natural hair loss treatments, there’s no quick fix here and it usually takes 3 month or more when first results become apparent.
