In our journey to healthy, longer hair, we will, inevitably, run into a ton of regimens, products, and fad hairstyles. But one thing remains constant – the protective style. We all grow tired of the matronly bun and dismal French twist. But wearing styles were you don't have to touch your hair a lot helps it to stay healthy and also prevents and reduces breakage. When you wear your hair down it rubs against your clothes, gets caught in your earrings, chains, all over the place! If every time you move there's something brushing against or grabbing your hair it'll snap and break off. Ever noticed little pieces of hair all over your shoulders? It's because the air dries it out and coupled with the friction between your hair and your clothes, breakage increases. The most important step to help combat this is moisture. Your hair ends are the oldest part of your hair. They are exposed to more abuse than any other part. But even after proper moisturizing, with a water-based moisturizer, we can go one step further- hide those moisturized tresses. Wearing a protective hairstyles is great because it keeps your hair tucked away, helps your hair to accumulate length, locks moisture into your hair, keeps it from drying out, prevents splits ends, needs less coming and brushing, causes less breakage, and you can get creative with it too. There are lots of things you can do to add a little spice to the way it looks. Using accessories like jeweled clips, chopsticks, head bands and scarves you can add a little something extra to your protective style. So I’m going to share some links with you that show creative ways to help keep you looking hot and preserving those precious tresses as they grow and thrive.
